Our plans for new housing in Edington are at a very early stage since the land was only purchased in May 2026. To date we have:
Submitted a pre-application advice request to Somerset Council as the local planning authority
Made contact with Edington Parish Council to ask how we should consult with the community
Made contact with Edington Future Group
Made contact with Catcott Primary School about getting feedback from pupils on what they would like to see in a new playground at Edington, if this were provided as part of the scheme.
We have drawn up an initial plan of where housing could be built to start discussions (see below). No work has started to confirm the exact number of houses, what they will look like or how they might be laid out. We will need to involve a technical team to review all planning impacts such as transport, drainage, ecology and heritage.
Our initial plan below includes a new footpath along Manor Road, inside the hedge line, to take pedestrians off the road. As many hedgerows would be retained within the development as possible, with exeptions where vehicle access is needed. We also think a new community area / play space would be a good addition for both new and existing residents, including families, since Catcott Playing Field and Chilton Polden Playing Field are some distance away. These are our initial ideas and we are keen to hear the communities views.
